Isaiah Smith (1833-1922), born in Houston County, Georgia, was a machinist, farm hand, and mill operator. He served in Co. K, Georgia 31st Infantry until illness forced a medical discharge in October 1862. He later re-enlisted and worked in several field hospitals in Georgia.
